Jazz Standard
I unfortunately missed Esperanza Spalding at Drink & Design at the Cooper Hewitt because I was in New Orleans on vacation but I made up for it this past Thursday as apart of a recon mission for my teaching artist gig.
Work, Music, Fun, Friendship & Design.

Music influences my design process & being exposed to new music is like a designer of color won a CFDA award, makes me jump out of my seat into action. Gotta go see it for myself. Need to watch history in the making. Sir The Baptist was stellar. Felt like church on a sunday morning. I loved his message and sending many blessings his direction for great success.

The exhibit meant a lot to me since I worked as a wardrobe consultant for Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for 4 years, departing to blaze my own trail. I’ve supported in the wardrobe capacity for many musicians since, reuniting me not only with my love of music but the importance of purpose and self mastery. A lot of what I learned within those walls I currently apply to my design approach. My experience fueled me to explore teaching as a result.

Need to come back for the 3rd floor of the exhibition.

Maybe the next Drinks & Design I will finally complete it. Step outside of your comfort zone and find what fuels you. It will give you the ingredients to the recipe of your greatness.
